Alfa burned the house of his wife who refused to marry him in Ekiti

An Islamic religious teacher in Ekiti state, Ahmed Ojo, has set fire to his wife’s house because she refused to join him in marriage.

Egbe Odo area, located in Isua Ijesha in Ekiti state where the incident took place.

In an interview with Abele Punch news agency, the woman whose husband burned down her house, Bosede Afolabi said that the incident happened on the seventeenth day of April, 2024.

According to what he said, the man came down at about 11 o’clock at night, and called to him to come and kill him but he refused because he was tired.

Afolabi further explained that her husband’s behavior was also in her, which led her to call the neighbors to intervene in the matter.

The woman said further that when the trouble was over, she left the house they were living in to sleep with their neighbors.

He said “at about 12:00 a.m. a young woman came knocking on the door of the house I came to tell her that my house was on fire and we believe that my husband set the house on fire.

“Then the suspect was handcuffed and handed over to the police.”

The woman said that she became Ojo’s wife after her first husband returned, and the suspect has been living in her house since they got married.

Although he said that there was no fight between the two before, he believed that he had drunk alcohol the day before he set fire to his house.

He said “what I noticed is that he was drunk, that’s the reason why I avoided the trouble that happened that day, there are many times when he comes down to drink drunk, but we have never had a bad fight until now .

“I don’t know how I am since the incident took place because of the loss of my life, I am asking Nigerians to have mercy on me.”

Ekiti State Police Commissioner, Sunday Abutu confirmed the incident to BBC Yoruba, adding that they have started an investigation.
