An engineer is arrested with more than L3 million for alleged extortion
Agents from the Police Investigation Directorate (DPI) arrested this Saturday in San Pedro Sula, Cortés, in northern Honduras , a Honduran industrial engineer, who had in his possession more than three million lempiras , allegedly obtained through extortion, money laundering, assets and continued fraud.
The arrest of the 42-year-old citizen was carried out with the support of members of the National Directorate of Prevention and Community Security, specifically in the Río de Piedras neighborhood, where he resides, the DPI reported .
According to the police report, the engineer was arrested in flagrante delicto and is accused of committing crimes of extortion , money laundering and continued fraud, to the detriment of a protected witness.

At the time of his arrest, police officers confiscated 1,999,005.00 lempiras in banknotes of denominations of L500 and 54,150.00 dollars , equivalent to 1,338,046.5 lempiras.

In addition, 16 credit and debit cards, two cell phones and several deposit receipts from the engineering professional were seized.
The Honduran will be handed over to the competent authorities so that the due process established by law can be followed.
