Arsenal Beats Manchester City Via Penalties To Lift Community Shield


Arsenal have lifeted the Community Shield defeating Premier League and FA Cup holders Manchester City 4-1 in a penalty shoot-out at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.

The dramatic victory is the second Community Shield and third trophy in total for Mikel Arteta since he joined Arsenal in 2019.

After an end to end first half which ended goaless, Manchester City took the lead through Cole Palmer in the 77th minute after the forward cut inside from the right and curled a superb effort past Aaron Ramsdale and inside the far post.

With the game tilting towards the end, Arsenal grabbed a stoppage-time equaliser through Leandro Trossard whose shot was deflected past Ortega by Manuel Akanji to send the game to penalties.

Martin odegaard dispatched the first spot kick for the gunners while Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne crashed his penalty against the crossbar.

Aaron Ramsdale saved from Rodri before Fabio Vieira converted the winning penalty to hand Arsenal the first piece of silverware of the season.
