Staff from an unidentified hospital left Blessing Ayeni, a sick woman, in front of her husband’s shop on Desalu Street, Odo-Ona, in the Ibadan South-West Local Government Area of Oyo State, causing confusion.

The incident occurred on Friday afternoon, January 19, 2024, as reported by the Nigerian Tribune.

Witness Remilekun Tawose stated that the officials claimed Blessing had been abandoned at the hospital since the previous year.

Consequently, the hospital decided to bring her to her husband’s known address, his alcoholic drinks shop.

The hospital representatives informed residents that they had repeatedly asked the husband to take responsibility for his wife’s medical bills, with no positive response.

They also mentioned that Blessing’s immediate family initially appeared at the hospital but later ceased contact for undisclosed reasons.

When the publication reached the site, Blessing lay on the ground, frail under the sun, while concerned residents watched helplessly.

Tawose mentioned that officials warned against approaching the sick woman due to the contagious nature of her ailment.

Efforts to locate Blessing’s husband for his side of the story were unsuccessful, as he was not present, and his shop was closed.
