Boko Haram Attacks Voters In Borno, Children Injured

Boko Haram Insurgents attacked voters at a Borno community, Naijapopstar reports.

This incident left five persons including children with severe injuries.

According to reports, the incident happened in Mandara mountains, Gwoza LGA of the state.

Borno commissioner of police, CP Abdu Umar confirmed the incident in an interview with newsmen. He said several gunshots were fired at voters from the top of the Mandara mountain.

“Efforts of the military within the area of responsibility helped in chasing the terrorists. They were forced to flee due to the superior firepower,” said CP Umar.

According to him, the attack disrupted the voting process for some hours as the electorate scampered for safety. This led to many of them sustaining injuries.

The police boss said normalcy has since been restored in the LGA as the voting exercise continued.

He added that the gunshot victims have been referred to a hospital for treatment.
