Fire Guts Alaba International Market, Properties, Shops Burnt (Video)

Properties worth millions of naira and several shops at the popular Alaba International market in Lagos State have been reported to have been gutted by fire with traders losing goods in the raging inferno in the state.

In a bid to save their goods, the traders, it was learnt, had to resolve to sourcing water by themselves to put out the fire after all efforts to get officials of the Lagos State fire service to the scene proved abortive.

According to reports gathered, at least one person was reported to have suffered severe burns during the process. He was said to have been rushed to a private hospital where the traders believed medical care could be administered on him.

It was further reported that the fire that disrupted commercial activities within the market in Ojo Local Government started on Friday from a shop where gas cylinders were stored before spreading to other parts.
