Belgian Goalkeeper, Arne Espeel has slumped and died after saving a penalty in a B division match.

The match was between his club side, Winkel sport B against Westrozebeke. The 25-year-old pulled a great save to deny the away side from scoring from the spot

Shortly after, he collapsed and lay lifeless while teammates call for medical support.

Emergency ran onto the pitch to try to resuscitate Espeel, using a defibrillator but it was too late.

He was immediately rushed to the hospital and he was confirmed dead.

In the club statement obtained by daily post, they express their sadness and commiserate with the player’s family.

“Winkel Sport is in very deep mourning at the sudden passing of goalkeeper Arne Espeel,” the club stated.
