Harvertz Scores As Arsenal Defeats Barelona 5-3 In Pre-season Friendly
Kai Hervertz scored as Arsenal signed off their preseason tour of the United States with a 5-3 win over Barcelona in a hugely entertaining friendly at SoFi Stadium.
The Spanish Champions drew the first blood through Robert Lewandowski in the seventh-minute before Bukayo Saka equalised for Arsenal with a clever right-footed finish.
Saka had the opportunity to give the Gunners a deserved lead only to miss from the penalty spot, instead Barca scored next as Raphinha’s deflected free-kick beat a hapless Aaron Ramsdale.
New signing Kai Havertz turned the ball home from close range before a brace from Leandro Trossard – who impressed throughout – put Arsenal 4-2 in front.
Ferran Torres replied for Barcelona but Fabio Vieira capped a victory Mikel Arteta’s side merited for their overall performance with a superb drive from distance in front of 70,223 fans.
Up next, Arsenal will host Monaco in the Emirates Cup next week while Xavi Hernandez’s side will look to bounce back against Real Madrid in Texas on Saturday.
