1Wasiu Ayinde, well known by his stage names Kwam1 or K1 De Ultimate, is a superstar Nigerian Fuji musician who recently paid homage to the late singer Mohbad at his coronation performance.

The tribute he paid to the late musician, however, drew harsh internet criticism.

Giving a speech at his coronation ceremony in Ijebu, the Fuji star mentioned that Nigeria had many talented artists and sadly lost one recently, as he acknowledged Mohbad’s vocal skills.

Kwam1 said that Mohbad’s death caught him off guard and made him feel bad about humanity in general.

The tribute to the departed artist from Kwam1 read:

“We have a whole lot of artists that can keep the country together, we have Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, Tiwa Sãvage. Unfortunately, something happened to us a while ago, it caught us unaware and it set us back, and made us feel bad about ourselves and our attitudes. Mohbad rest in peace.”
