Larry Isenberg obituary idaho ad dead, killing gets second documentary
Murder” will cover the documentary
about the 2018 death of Larry
lsenberg.
The episode, titled “Fatal Breakfast
Date’ revisited Isenberg’s death at
the hands of his wife Lori lsenberg,
who is currently serving a 30-year
sentence for second-degree murder.
years in prison. On the morning of
February 13, 2018, Larry and Lori
lsenberg were on a boat trip on Lake
Coeur d’Alene. Two hours later, Lori
lsenberg called 911 to report her
husband had fallen from the boat
and was missing.
She told authorities he was
behaving strangely that morning. He
appears to have suffered a stroke
while handling the malfunctioning
engine just before he fell over the
side of the boat. Rescue teams tried
for a month without finding the
body, until a local called one
morning to report a body had
washed up outside their home.
An autopsy found no signs of stroke
or drowning. However, a toxicology
report would show lethal levels of
diphenhydramine in lsenberg’s
system. On the same morning that
Larry Isenberg disappeared, it was
reported that Lori lsenberg had
broken away from the Northern
Idaho Housing League and that an
investigation into her activities was
underway. Isenberg was soon
accused of embezzling $500,000
from the nonprofit.
As authorities continue to search for
Larry lsenberg’s body, Lori lsenberg
goes missing and misses her court
date in an embezzlement case.
Evidence suggests that Isenberg’s
internet history in the weeks leading
up to her husband’s disappearance
included searches for drowning,
water depths and boat rentals.
Isenberg was initially charged with
first-degree murder, and he later
pleaded with Alford on the lesser
second-degree murder charge. This
allows a defendant to plead guilty
without a specific guilty plea.
Before sentencing, Isenberg claimed
her husband’s death was an
accident and she planned to kill
herself that day by drinking a
smoothie laced with
diphenhydramine.
But the family is
still not convinced for various
reasons, which will be explained in
more detail in an upcoming
documentary. This story was
previously recorded on NBC’s
Dateline in October 2021.
