After serving an internal punishment, Sadio Mane will be allowed to play for Bayern Munich against Manchester City on Wednesday, according to manager Thomas Tuchel.

Following an incident involving the former Liverpool player and teammate Leroy Sane, the club suspended Senegal international Mane from Bayern’s weekend match against Hoffenheim.

Following the first-leg loss to City at the Etihad Stadium, Mane is accused of hitting Sane.

“Sadio has already reacted and apologized,” Tuchel said. “He will train with us as normal tomorrow and be in the squad against Manchester City on Wednesday.”

Bayern lost 3-0 at the Etihad Stadium in the first leg, with Rodri opening the scoring before Bernardo Silva and Erling Haaland added gloss to the scoreline.

It was the Bundesliga leaders’ first defeat in this season’s competition, with Tuchel’s predecessor Julian Nagelsmann overseeing six group stage wins out of six and a last-16 victory over Paris Saint-Germain.

Mane was part of the Liverpool side which made it all the way to the final last season, but has not hit the same heights since his £35m summer move to the Allianz Arena.
