Naira Scarcity Is Affecting Ramadan Fasting - Islamic Body Tells FG

An Islamic body in Bauchi State has today told President Buhari that the scarcity of Naira notes is affecting their ongoing Ramadan fasting.

The Jama’atu Izalatul Bid’ah Wa Iqamatus Sunnah made the appeal to the Federal Government to make naira notes available during Ramadan.

“Ramadan is here again and the currency meant for daily purchases is not available thereby making the situation difficult for people to buy what they need”. The Chairman, of the Tafsir Committee of the Kasuwan Shanu JIBWS mosque, Alhaji Hassan Gwani said.

“If the FG wants the policy to be received with open arms and successful, the new naira notes should be made available for people to spend”.

The new currency policy that was announced by CBN several weeks ago has plunged the nation’s economy. Banking halls are always filled with customers as withdrawals were limited.

However, the strike threats by NLC has served as a wake-up call for the federal government as they have promised to flood banks with old notes to ease the pains of residents.
