According to reports, there were numerous police officers at Nathan Hale High School.

Tulsa police are investigating the possible threat but have no confirmed information. There was a heavy police presence at Nathan Hale High School.

Tulsa police confirmed they are investigating along with other law enforcement agencies.

No further information has been confirmed yet.

When the Continental Army needed someone to gather intelligence behind enemy lines, Hale volunteered. Within a week, he was captured and hanged.

He is remembered as a Revolutionary War hero and is perhaps best known for saying, “I regret that I can only devote one life to my country.”

Hale was born in Coventry, Connecticut, the son of Deacon Richard Hale and Elizabeth Strong, a descendant of Elder John Strong. He was “the great-grandson of the Reverend John Hale, a prominent figure in the Salem Witch Trials of 1692.”

In 1769, when Nathan was 14 years old, he and his 16-year-old brother Enoch were sent to Yale University. He was a classmate of Patriot spy Benjamin Tallmadge.

Brother Hale “belonged to the Linoni Society of Yale, which discussed such subjects as astronomy, mathematics, literature, and the ethics of slavery.” In 1773, at the age of 18, Nathan graduated with honors and became a teacher, first at East Haddam and later in New London.
