Oyo Escalates Action to Curtail Lassa Fever Cases in Iwajowa LGA

Oyo State Government has appealed to residents to remain calm over cases of Lassa Fever in Iwajowa Local Government Area.

A statement on Monday by the State’s Health Commissioner, Dr. Bode Ladipo assured that the authorities were doing everything possible to curtail its spread.

Doses of antiviral agents have been made available and personal protective devices provided to healthcare providers in Iwere Ile and Iganna.

The people were advised to go to the nearest government hospitals for free care and call 09058704101, 08025245800 and 08073431342 to report cases.

Recent deaths recorded in Iwajowa were linked with fever, gastrointestinal symptoms and some neck swelling.

The result from the Reference Laboratory, received on Monday, showed that two of the ten samples tested positive for Lassa Fever.
