Rivers State Woman Allegedly Pours Hot Oil on Husband Amidst Dispute Over Younger Sister
A woman named Hope Nwala stands accused of a distressing act in Rivers State, as reports suggest that she poured scalding groundnut oil on her husband, Ekelediri Nwankwo, in the Okehi community within the Etche Local Government Area.

The turmoil between the couple apparently stemmed from ongoing conflicts related to the behavior and attire of the wife’s younger sister, who resided with them. Hope, originally from Obite Community in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of the state, fled the Okehi community after allegedly committing this grievous act.

The victim, Nwankwo, revealed that he decided to send his wife’s younger sister back home because of her disrespectful demeanor and improper attire. He even offered her money to facilitate her return. However, his wife opposed his decision vehemently, sparking a heated dispute between them.

Nwankwo disclosed that during the time his wife’s younger sister lived with them, he noticed some peculiar behavior. He became suspicious of a strange man who seemed to be frequently around his wife and sister-in-law.

He bravely confronted his wife about this concern, inquiring about the identity of the mysterious man. Instead of a straightforward answer, his wife reacted violently, pouring boiling oil on him while he was asleep and even striking him with a hammer.

Nwankwo clarified, “I told my wife’s younger sister to leave my house because of the way she started dressing, her behavior, and her invasion of my matrimonial bed, even when I was around, were unacceptable. No young man would tolerate such conduct. However, my wife insisted her younger sister stay in the house.”

He continued, “I also observed my wife alone with a tall black man in the shop I had rented for her. It wasn’t for business purposes. This man seemed to follow my wife and her sister everywhere. Based on all these concerns, I provided two thousand naira as transport for her younger sister to leave our house. I wanted to understand what was truly happening within my home. My wife, however, grew angry. When I went to sleep, she used boiling groundnut oil on me and proceeded to assault me with a hammer.”
