Sen. Cardin Staffer Fired After Senate Sex Tape Scandal: ‘We Will Have No Further Comment’

Senate Sex Tape Scandal Leads to Sen. Cardin Staffer's Fire: "We Will Have No Further Comment"

A Congressional staffer to Sen. Ben Cardin (D-MD) was fired on Saturday after allegedly filming a graphic gay porn video in a Senate hearing room that was then obtained and reported on by the Daily Caller.

At the time of this article, the story that a Senator’s staffer filmed porn in a Senate hearing room and was then fired with little comment from the Senator’s office is not being reported on cable news.

The video was obtained and shared with some of the content blurred out in a report from the Daily Caller on Friday. It graphically features two nude men having sex in a Senate hearing room. The Caller reported the sex tape was filmed in Hart 216, a committee hearing room that has hosted Supreme Court nominees, the 9/11 commission hearings, and testimony of FBI officials in the past.

The staffer was not named by the Caller but other conservative outlets identified the Senate aide filmed in the video as Aidan Maese-Czeropski, according to Politico Playbook.

Politico reported that the sex act takes places on the dais where Sens. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) and Chris Coons (D-DE) have sat during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing. The video was allegedly first shared in a group chat made for gay men in politics.

Cardin’s office offered a tersely brief statement announcing the firing on Saturday. It said only: “Aidan Maese-Czeropski is no longer employed by the U.S. Senate. We will have no further comment on this personnel matter.”

Maese-Czeropski posted a statement on LinkedIn Friday saying he’s exploring legal options and claimed, “I love my job and would never disrespect my workplace.”

“This has been a difficult time for me, as I have been attacked for who I love to pursue a political agenda,” he wrote. “While some of my actions in the past have shown poor judgement, I love my job and would never disrespect my workplace. Any attempts to characterize my actions otherwise are fabricated and I will be exploring what legal options are available to me in these matters.”

Playbook reportedly asked Capitol Police on Saturday morning if an investigation would be opened into the matter but did not receive a response.
