Kwara State Fire Service responded to a distress call on Thursday, rescuing a 17-year-old boy and recovering the body of his 49-year-old father from a domestic well in Offa town.

The incident involved Fasasi Afeez and his son Kaleed Afeez from Gaa Jangbo, Igbonna Road, Offa. The tragic event occurred around 4:11 pm, initiated by an urgent call from Alhaji Taiye Gbadamosi, a neighbor.

According to reports, while the son was fetching water, he slipped and fell into the well, prompting his father to attempt a rescue.

Unfortunately, the father also fell into the well and lost his life in the process.

Hassan Adekunle, the state fire service spokesperson, confirmed the sequence of events.

Director Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa expressed condolences and advised the public to exercise caution, especially when involving underage children in activities near wells.
