Constable Ivan Wabwire, a police officer in Uganda, is accused of shooting and killing Indian moneylender Uttam Bhandari at Raja Chambers on Friday, May 12, 2023.

The victim was the Director of TFS Financial Services, and the policeman who killed him with an AK47, according to Patrick Onyango, spokesman for the Kampala Metropolitan Police.

According to reports, the suspect visited the victim to request a quote for a loan transfer to an unnamed bank in 2020 after obtaining a loan from the victim’s business.

However, they got into a fight over the balance, and that’s what started the firing. The suspect left the scene of the event on a bicycle and subsequently left the gun at CPS Kampala.

Onyango further disclosed that the police constable had been banned from gun possession for six years due to a medical condition and had stolen the firearm used by a fellow colleague.

The incident has sparked outrage among netizens, with many expressing their concerns about police brutality and the need for justice for the victim. A video of the incident has also been shared on social media.
