Kcee Responds to Accusations of Using Mike Ejeagha’s Song Without Permission
Nigerian artist Kingsley Chinweike Okonkwo, also known as Kcee, has addressed rumors that he sampled Highlife legend Mike Ejeagha’s song without permission.

In response to the Gwoo Gwo Gwo Ngwoo trend, Kcee turned to Instagram and shared a snippet of a song he created that appears to have taken phrases from the now-viral old track. Sharing the video, he wrote:

“I say make I go buy 1 small bag, I come here dem dey play gwangwangwangwa @brainjotter come carry your people.”

Netizens reacted quickly, accusing the musician of sampling Ejeagha’s song without taking the necessary steps. Kcee, in an effort to defend his name, uploaded another tweet in which he provided a video of himself and his team visiting Mike Ejeagha in 2018. He said that he had the veteran singer’s authorization before using his intellectual property, and that all paperwork was completed properly.

In his own words: “Be sure of your source of information before you become an agent of fake news!

With all due respect to the living legend Mike Ejeagha and his family, I want to state categorically that in 2018 I got his consent before using his intellectual property and every paperwork to that regard was officially engaged.
