TV presenter Carol Wardman has said it would be “ok” if she lost her job for criticizing the UK government.

The 62-year-old former Countdown star has been embroiled in a number of Twitter disputes with Tory MPs, including most recently with party leader Greg Hands, who she allegedly Several tweets about the person were deleted.

Asked what he thought of the Tory criticism, Wardman told The Times on Saturday: “It doesn’t bother me… I’ll tell you why. I’m knocking No. 63.” I’ve made money. I’ve been through it all.

“What’s the worst that can happen? Am I going to lose some jobs? OK with me. Come on. They can throw whatever they want at me.”

Vorderman has appeared on ITV’s Loose Women, This Morning and Lorraine, and this year also appeared on I’m a Celebrity… South Africa, as well as hosting a show on BBC Radio Wales.

Mr Hands called for “I’m a Celebrity…get me out of here!” A rival apologized for posting “defamatory and damaging” tweets about his involvement in a lifestyle company set to win a 2020 Personal protective equipment (PPE) contract worth £25.8m.

Wardman has been embroiled in other clashes with Conservative MPs, including in March when she called for the resignation of women’s minister Maria Caulfield after she failed to attend a committee hearing on menopause.

The MP, who is also the women’s health strategy minister, tweeted that she was “not a punching bag” and said anyone posting “misleading information” about her would be banned from the social media platform.

Wardman also told the newspaper that people of all ages say they “really love” what she does when they see her in public.

She added: “I think even people who say the Conservatives are great know that’s not true.”

Some coronavirus-related contracts have been moved to “VIP lanes” as the government struggles to purchase protective equipment during the pandemic.

The UK’s Audit Committee found in July that the UK government’s “hasty” purchase of personal protective equipment (PPE) was akin to “panic buying” but could not “completely conclude” that emails from Tory colleagues led to companies treating them differently.

“They’re trying to convince us that Partygate isn’t bothering us and we’re concerned, but we won’t forget that,” Wardman said. “The ‘VIP track’ is also very emotional, as it should be.”

Johnny Mercer also had several public arguments with Wardman.

Britain’s Veterans Affairs Secretary described Wardman as a “very unpleasant person” on the social media site and made a series of critical comments about Mr Mercer’s performance as minister.
