Two die, three injured in Lagos-Ibadan Expressway crash

Two people died and three others were injured on Monday in a road crash that occurred at about 8am around Isara Remo, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The lone crash, which was blamed on excessive speed, involved a Toyota car with the number plate TTD985AA.

PUNCH Online reports that Isara Remo has its headquarters in the Remo North Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The spokesperson of the Ogun State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Florence Okpe, disclosed this in a statement sent to journalists.

The injured victims were said to have been taken to Victory Hospital Ogere for medical attention, while the corpses were deposited at the Isara General Hospital mortuary.

The statement partly read, “The crash occurred at about 0800hrs on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. A total of 5 persons were involved, which comprised 3 male children, 1 male adult, and 1 female adult.

“Three persons were injured: one female adult, one male adult, and one male child.

“Two persons were killed (two male children).

“One vehicle was involved with number plate TTD985AA Toyota car.

“The suspected cause of the lone crash was excessive speed, and the vehicle suddenly lost control and ran into a ditch.

“The injured victims were taken to Victory Hospital Ogere for medical attention, while the corpses were deposited at the Isara General Hospital morgue.”

PUNCH Online reports that there has been a rising increase in cases of fatal crashes on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in recent times.

Earlier on December 27, it was reported that two people died while six others were injured in a crash said to have occurred at about 2:21 am around Car Park C Turning of the Redemption Camp along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
